Making location shoots safe for the ‘new normal’

It’s a question we’ve had frequently from clients over the last 4 months, and we expect even more so with the recent lockdown 2 announcements: 'Is it still safe to do my location shoot?'

And for homeowners, 'can I still safely rent my property out for shoots?'

Following the Prime Minister’s latest announcements, we’ve taken advice from the Advertising Producers Association to confirm that filming can still take place safely, as long as proper safety measures are in place.

We’re certainly well prepared here at Lifestyle Locations. Through lots of adaptation over the recent months, we’ve been able to create a safe shooting environment which has allowed us to get back to doing what we love most. Here’s a recap of how we’re keeping our clients safe in these challenging times.

Our safety measures for location shoots

Pre-shoot checks

Ahead of a recce or booking, all our clients are sent a copy of our Covid-19 guidelines to read through, sign and return to us. These contain links to

Both location owners and clients have to sign that they have read the information, and that they can confirm everyone attending is fit and well at the time of the shoot.

Ahead of arrival on set, we also advise that crew complete the Screen Skills basic coronavirus awareness on production training and produce a certificate showing they’ve passed.

Further to this, our clients carry out risk assessments for every shoot, to make sure we’re creating the safest working environment possible for our teams, and for our homeowner’s peace of mind.

On the day safety

As soon as the crew arrives at a location, temperatures are taken, health questions are asked and track and trace information is obtained.

Once approved to be on set, face coverings are worn at all times, hand sanitising is done on entry and then again frequently throughout the day. High touch point areas are also cleaned regularly throughout the shoot.

To add further safety, the crew are ‘bubbled’ and on rota. This allows us to stagger different departments and manage social distancing.

Before and after the shoot, the locations are cleaned to a high standard with particular attention being paid to sanitising surfaces, handles and switches.

Accountability

To make sure these rules are maintained, we have someone who is Covid-accountable on every set. It’s this person’s job to supervise the team and ensure our Covid-measures are followed at all times.

What our clients say

We’ve been safely filming through various restriction changes over the last few months, and the response from our clients has been incredible. Here are a few comments from our valuable clients on how they’ve found the new measures.

“When pulling a shoot together in the current climate you need a company that you can rely on with location options that will work with the restrictions we have without compromising on the brief... lifestyle locations are definitely that company! They are my absolute go to now!

Bryony
Producer at White Noise Productions

“We always endeavour to work with partners that prioritise health and safety for our cast, crew, clients and location owners and Lifestyle Locations are extremely thorough in ensuring that isn’t compromised whilst we are on set - especially during the current climate and guidelines around filming during COVID -19. Each experience has proven a success and that is largely down to fantastic communication from Louise and really lovely locations.
